A Closer Look At My Texture

If I had to guess at this, I would say that my hair type would be around a 4a or 4b. I may even have some 4c up in there somewhere! LOL! My hair is at least two different hair types. The front, crown  and right side of my head is probably a mixture of 4a/4b. The left side of my head is probably a 4b. The back of my head is a little coarser than the rest and I would probably say that it is a 4b with maybe some 4c parts to it.

I know that for MY  hair type, I have to show it a little extra love and care because it is more prone to breakage because my type tends to be more dry and fragile than the rest of the hair types. So what I have to do is more frequent deep conditioners (I always sit under the dryer with my deep conditioner for at least 15 minutes), I have to moisturize the ends of my hair a lot more often ( I use water to moisturize), followed by shea butter that I place in my hair, especially on the ends to seal in the moisture longer so my hair will not get dry and brittle as often.

Another thing that with my hair type that I have to do is LOW MANIPULATION!! I like change so that usually prompts me to be in my head all the time, which I can say that I have learned to do less of.

A BIG BIG NO NO, is to rip through your hair with combs and styling tools TRYING to detangle, but instead, breaking your fragile strands causing split ends and damage to the cuticle. So my thing now is finger detangling and I like to do it wet so I can feel for knots and tangles and GENTLY unloosen the strands of hair that are knotted up.

I'm definitely trying to see growth this year and I have some hair goals that I will share in a later segment and will post my progress along with some length checks along the way, so stay tuned for that.
