This is Dr. Bronner's Pure Organic Castile Soap (mild baby unscented). This soap is found in your local health food markets such as Whole Foods. The pH of this soap is 10. A pH of 10 is way too high because it opens the cuticle of the hair shaft so wide that moisture is stripped away from the hair, which causes damage to the cuticle and hair to be dry, brittle and break off.
~*The pH of any liquid can be lowered or raised to get the desired pH balance for hair. The ultimate goal is for the pH of any hair product to be within the range of 4 to 7. For example a conditioner with a pH of 6 can be lowered to the desired range for conditioner which is 4.5 to 5 by adding a more acidic liquid to the conditioner such as aloe vera juice which has a pH of about 3.5 to 4.
So try it yourself if you do not mind purchasing the pH strips :)
Happy Mixing Curly chicks!!
Peace and Precious Blessings
