My Lean Green Cocktail

Hello All!!

As I have told you guys before, I am also on a journey to a healthy body. So in order to have great hair, it starts from within, and that means consuming foods that are going to benefit the body and staying far away from those foods that have no nutritional value whatsoever!

It can be a challenging transition when trying to eat healthy especially in the USA where fast food is like the patriarch of obese America. But then again, I'm not trying to leave this earth with a heart attack being the main culprit!!

Yes eating healthy is a little on the expensive side, but its cheaper to invest into your health than pay a high doctor/ hospital bill from that heart attack that could have been prevented by just eating right.

Ok I'm done rambling...for now, so here is my "Lean Green Cocktail"

Here is what I put in it...

Ingredients:

  • Handful of spinach
  • Handful of broccoli
  • handful of organic baby carrots
  • 1½ cup of apple juice
  • ½ cup of orange juice
  • ½ cup of cranberry juice
  • 1 banana
  • 1 cup of Stonyfield organic yogurt (french vanilla)
  • 1 tbsp of organic agave nectar
  • ½ cup of crushed ice (optional)
Blend until smooth, pour into your favorite sippie cup and bottoms up!!
(Alright so "handful" is not an exact measurement but just work with me here! There is no way to mess this up, LOL!)
Yeah the drink looks nasty but tastes AMAZING!! I made a batch for my parents and they LOVED IT!! This drink is power-packed with all the essential nutrients that your body needs to properly function.

SPINACH- loaded with fiber to aid in digestion, maintains low blood sugar, has anti-cancer properties that has been shown to slow down cell division in the human stomach and skin cancer cells. It has antioxidants, lowers blood pressure, aids in vision (protects eyes from cataracts and macular degeneration), boosts immunity and is great for skin, bones, brain and nervous function.

BROCCOLI- provides a high amount of vitamin C, which aids iron absorption in the body, prevents the development of cataracts, and also eases the symptoms of the common cold. Also contains folic acid, potassium and fiber.

CARROTS- aids in improved vision, cancer prevention, prevents stroke and heart disease, anti-aging and is a powerful antiseptic.

BANANAS- provides energy, promotes bowel health, and is rich in potassium which prevents high blood pressure and stroke by improving the circulatory system.

YOGURT- contributes to colon health, boosts immunity, can lower cholesterol and decrease yeast infections in women.

AGAVE NECTAR- has a low glycemic index which means when consumed, it will not cause a sharp rise and fall in blood sugar, has anti-inflammatory and immune system boosting properties. Agave nectar is a natural sweetener from the agave plant and is a great substitute for sugar.

So my plan is to drink this every day because I'm not too big of a veggie eater so this works perfect because it tastes great and i'm getting my veggies and essential nutrients in at the same time.

Another plan of mine is to start juicing. I tried it once before but was not consistent, now it's time to get this ball rollin'!!!

So who's with me???

Peace and precious blessings everyone!!

Stay healthy :)
